We’re celebrating the dawn of a new era for our colleague communications with the launch of the University’s first ever dedicated Staff Intranet, replacing For Staff.

Our brand-new home for all the latest University news, information and services is live and ready for you to explore!  

Enjoy fast, simple and secure access to everything you need in just a few simple clicks, including from your mobile phone, making it easier to find the information that matters most to you.

Need to access University strategies, policies or guidance? Looking for the latest HR, IT or wellbeing information? Want to discover what’s happening across our University community? We’ve got it covered! 

Whether you’re booking holiday or reading about our Climate Plan, the new Staff Intranet truly opens up the University so you can interact with all departments in one place, ensuring you stay connected and never miss a thing.

It’s also a superb space to recognise and celebrate your achievements.

Make it your own

The new Staff Intranet is built for you and your work, enabling you to personalise your experience. 

Create your own profile and follow pages to receive alerts about stories and updates based on your interests. 

For easier access, you can also create a directory of the online tools you use the most, so they’re always at your fingertips. Conveniently located in the My Links section just below the intranet welcome message, you can store up to 12 on your homepage. We’ve given you a helping hand by adding the three most commonly accessed links – to book leave, log an IT request and claim expenses. The rest are up to you!

Get involved

Your views really count, so all our pages and news provide the opportunity for you to add comments or questions. 

Conversation feeds have been set up on some sites, which connect to Viva Engage – another Microsoft 365 application, previously known as Yammer. Community forums can also be set up in Viva Engage and the conversation feed added to pages, making it easier to find and connect to teams and colleagues across the University.

Shaped by you

We’re planning a staggered launch of key sites and information, to allow you time to explore the many new features. The intranet will continue to grow and develop – shaped by and for you – to ensure it remains up to date and relevant.

For this reason, For Staff will continue to operate alongside the new Staff Intranet in the first few weeks following the launch before eventually being retired. However, new content will only be added to the intranet.

Some sites are also still under construction, so for a short period there may be links back to pre-existing sites. Our brilliant team of site owners will continue to transfer across content that’s useful to you or ensure there are clear pathways to other information sources.

Feedback is encouraged so that we can continue to develop, improve and refresh the intranet over time to meet your needs. Contact Internal Communications and Engagement to let us know what you think about the new Staff Intranet, if you have any questions or can’t find what you need.

How do I get started?

All colleagues have access to the new Staff Intranet, providing you’re logged onto the network. You can also access it via your mobile phone by adding the intranet homepage into your browser and signing in using your usual University login details.

If you need a helping hand, access our handy tips and hints, which show how to make the most of all the fantastic features. The accompanying Staff Intranet video provides a useful overview to demonstrate exactly what’s available to you.

eNews – our weekly digest of key University news and information – will also operate in tandem with the new Staff Intranet, providing handy links to useful content across our new sites.
