Introducing your new Staff Intranet

Your brand new Staff Intranet launches soon, featuring all the latest University news and information in one place.

Introducing your new Staff Intranet. February 2024

It provides fast, simple and secure access to everything you need in just a few simple clicks, including from your mobile phone, making it easier to find the information that matters most to you.

Stay in the know about key services, polices and guidance, and keep up to date with blogs, events and calls to action from across the University. It’s also a space to recognise and celebrate your achievements.

The new Staff Intranet is built for you and your work. Everything you need is at your fingertips, and everyone at the University will be able to access and benefit from it.

What’s more, you can tailor the intranet to your individual needs. One of the exciting new features enables you to personalise your experience. Create your own profile and follow pages to receive alerts about stories and updates based on your interests, through curated content and email reminders.

eNews  – our weekly digest of key University news and information – will operate in tandem with the Staff Intranet, providing handy links to useful content across our new sites.

University Secretary and Registrar Jennifer Sewel said: “One of the key messages coming out of our 2023 employee engagement survey was the need to ensure everyone at Leeds had a voice and that it truly counted. We listened and we have acted on your feedback.

“I’m delighted we’re now in a position to launch our new Staff Intranet – a brand new home for all the information you need to connect with colleagues and to feel part of a collaborative and inclusive University community. It presents us with an exciting opportunity to continue improving the way we work together, reflecting what matters most to you.”

Why do we need a new intranet?

According to responses in last year’s University-wide employee engagement survey, whilst 94% of colleagues recognised the importance of being able to access the information they needed at work, only 24% of you said you could quickly and easily find the resources required to help you do your job.

While For Staff and other websites included in this launch have been a useful source of news and information over the years, they have limited functionality. Many were also external facing, which created problems around confidentiality of content.

The new Staff Intranet is a positive step towards resolving these issues, with simple links to our strategies, policies and a host of important services, covering HR, finance, student education, research and innovation, transformation programmes … and a whole lot more!

The survey also revealed only 29% of you felt your voice counts. The new Staff Intranet will be a great way to connect with the wider University community, with the ability to easily comment, post and ask questions on conversation feeds.

Next steps

We’re planning a staggered launch of key sites and information, to allow you time to explore its many new features. The intranet will continue to grow and develop – shaped by and for you – to ensure it remains up to date and relevant.

For this reason, For Staff will continue to operate alongside the new intranet in the first few weeks following the launch before eventually being retired. Some sites are also still under construction, so for a short period there may be links back to pre-existing sites. Our brilliant team of site owners will continue to transfer across content that’s useful to you or ensure there are clear pathways to other information sources.

There’s nothing you need to do in the meantime. We’ll be in touch as soon as the Staff Intranet launches, with simple instructions for how to get the most from this exciting new service.
