Celebrating collaboration across the University

Now is your chance to celebrate the amazing people who collaborate, support and enhance the Leeds community.

The annual Leeds Partnership Awards will once again highlight the achievements of staff and students who truly put into practice the Leeds Partnership – an agreement setting out our shared commitment to work together to support all aspects of our University.

It only takes a few minutes to fill out the Leeds Partnership Awards form, and you can nominate yourself, a colleague or a student for any of the 14 category awards up for grabs. Nominations close at midnight on 26 February and winners will be announced during a special awards ceremony on 30 April.

Professor Jeff Grabill, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Student Education, said: “The Leeds Partnership Awards give us all the opportunity to recognise and appreciate the individuals and teams that make our campus special. Whether it’s for a student, academic or professional services staff member, your nomination will let someone know how valued they are in our university community.

“I look forward to reading about the passion, diversity and ingenuity taking place across our classrooms, research labs and lecture halls.”

Positive impact

By being nominated for one of these prestigious awards, staff and students are acknowledged for their successes outside of traditional markers, such as grades or performance reviews, adding to their sense of wellbeing and belonging at Leeds.

In the spirit of reflection, improvement and mutual respect at Leeds, nominating someone for a Partnership Award is the perfect way to pay forward the positive impact colleagues have made and create the foundations for further inspiring work.

Last year’s winners covered a broad spectrum of the University community.

Bethan Corner, Leeds University Union’s (LUU) Education Officer, said: “For the past two years, the Leeds Partnership Awards have been a huge highlight of my year, as we celebrate everything the University prides itself on.

“Nominations are for absolutely everyone – students, colleagues, collectives – and are a chance to celebrate those who’ve helped you love your time at Leeds. It’s a privilege that I get to champion the best of the best at Leeds, and I can’t wait to read all the nominations and celebrate together this year!”

Inclusive

Historically, the Leeds Partnership Awards have always looked to celebrate the achievements of our staff and students. In recent years, however, we’ve been realigning the awards to be inclusive of all those in our community who contribute to making sure our students love their time at Leeds.

Categories range from those highlighting our commitment to equality and inclusion, wellbeing and innovation, to those working with a global focus. An extra category for 2024 is the Professional Services Staff Member or Team of the Year.

There are also dedicated awards to celebrate inspirational teachers, supervisors and mentors, as well as outstanding students, academic personal tutors, postgraduate researchers and student academic reps, among others.

Please contact the LUU Academic Representation Team if you have any questions about the Leeds Partnership Awards or process, and see the awards webpage for a simple guide to what’s involved in making a nomination.
