Emerita Professor Margaret Atack

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 13 December 2023, of Emerita Professor Margaret Atack, former Professor of French.

Margaret came to Leeds as Professor of French and Head of the Department of French in 1993, and from 2002 served as Research Dean, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research.  In 2009 she returned to research and teaching in the French Department, and won the Inspirational Teaching award in the University/LUU Partnership Awards in 2015

The funeral service will be held at 1.45pm at Lawnswood Crematorium, Adel, Leeds, on 4 January 2024.  It will be followed by a reception at Weetwood Hall (the Woodlands restaurant), Lawnswood, from 2.30pm to which all are welcome to attend. Arrangements have been made to fly the flag on the Parkinson Building at half-mast in her memory on that day.
