Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) 
12 noon to 1pm, 24 October 

Apply for the February 2024 PGCAP cohort to explore different pedagogical approaches, as well as reflect on and develop your academic practice. You can also attend an online event to find out more about the PGCAP

Policy Engagement Kickstart programme 

Book your place on the autumn Policy Engagement Kickstart programme, taking place in person on 24 October, 7 November, 21 November and 5 December. Aimed at researchers and research support staff, it provides you with the knowledge and skills to engage with policy makers. You can also register for the winter Policy Engagement Kickstart programme, which runs online from February 2024. 

University-wide mentoring scheme 

Sign up by 5pm on 27 October for the next round of matching for our University-wide mentoring scheme. Available to all colleagues, you can apply to be a mentor or mentee throughout the year, with new partnerships established in May and November. Organisational Development and Professional Learning (OD&PL) provides resources and workshops to support you in getting the most from your mentorship. You can also sign up for OD&PL’s reflective practice workshop for mentors on 25 October to share experiences and enhance your mentoring practice. 

Register | Foundations in Teaching course 

Register for the online, self-paced Foundations in Teaching (FiT) course from OD&PL, providing information and advice to those new to teaching – or new to teaching at Leeds. It’s available to staff, postgraduate students and researchers. 

Join | Teaching Innovation and Practice in Student Education (TIPS) community 

The TIPS Community supports colleagues involved in teaching and learning. Facilitated by OD&PL, it provides a collaborative space for peer support and discussion of everyday teaching matters. The community runs events throughout the year and shares examples of practice through the TIPS Blog, featuring articles written by colleagues from across the University. 

Psychosocial Resources suite of workshops

Register for the Psychosocial Resources for Personal Wellbeing and Professional Competence suite of workshops, delivered by the Staff Counselling and Psychological Support Service and OD&PL. There are 12 workshops exploring a variety of themes, including: active approaches to worry, exploring neurodiversity, supporting people in distress, setting limits and saying no, understanding and managing anxiety and panic and working with change and uncertainty.
