Tragic events in Morocco and Libya
The University has noted with great sadness the terrible events in Morocco and Libya over the last week.
Many people have tragically lost their lives in the earthquake in Morocco and the floods in Libya, with many more losing their homes and livelihoods.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by these disasters.
Within our own community there are staff, students and alumni connected with both countries and while we have already contacted some of them, there is support available for anyone affected in any way by these tragic events.
For anyone directly or indirectly affected by these events, support is available from our counselling and wellbeing services, the Chaplaincy and Leeds University Union.
A vigil will be held outside the Emmanuel Centre for all affected by the recent disasters, from 12 noon to 12.30pm on Wednesday 20 September.
If you are a member of staff and would like to access these services please check the staff support information on For Staff.
If you know of any students affected, please direct them to the support information on For Students. Leeds University Union is also working with faith societies and other related societies to support students.Posted in: University news
