Flu vaccinations 2023
Winter flu virus season is here and we’re encouraging colleagues to get vaccinated.

We’ll support colleagues in protecting themselves from seasonal flu by offering paid time off for vaccination appointments.
Colleagues who are eligible for free NHS flu jabs
If you’re eligible for a free flu vaccination through the NHS, you will be contacted by your GP surgery or NHS centre and we encourage you to book a vaccination appointment as soon as possible. You can take paid time off work for this, but please try to arrange an appointment at the beginning or end of your working day.
Private flu jabs on expenses
If you’re not eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination, you can still protect yourself by booking a private flu jab. These are available to book through pharmacies such as Superdrug, Boots, Lloyds Pharmacy and participating supermarkets. Due to a high demand for the flu vaccine, we advise you to book your appointment as soon as possible to avoid delays.
If you pay for a vaccination, please keep your receipt and you can claim the cost through e-expenses, up to £17. Please note to access Self Service you will need to log into the Virtual Windows Desktop first.
