Register | ‘African Apocalypse’ film symposium  
13 June  

Colleagues and students to attend the ‘African Apocalypse’ film symposium, which will explore racial violence, colonial accountability, literature and oral history. This all-day event includes a screening of the BBC/BFI feature documentary ‘African Apocalypse’, with a series of talks with the director Rob Lemkin on the film’s diverse themes and developments. 

Event | When Ordinary Citizens Become Activists: Feminist Responses to Gender Violence during the Egyptian Revolution 
4-6pm, 13 June 

The University will host Yasmin El-Rifae, the author of Radius: A Story of Feminist Revolution. In conversation with Sahla Aroussi and Maša Mrovlje, Yasmin will discuss her work on feminist activism during the Egyptian Revolution and reflect on the intersections of gender, violence and civic engagement more broadly. N8 Digital Health Community Conference  
9.45am to 4.30pm, 22 June 

Registration closes on 8 June to join the Digital Health Community for a day of learning and networking. Researchers from across the N8 group of universities, which includes Leeds, will hear from experts in health data and explore the future of digital health. 

Register | Research showcase: Tackling violence against women and girls 
12 noon to 5.30pm, 29 June 

Register for a series of short talks exploring findings from projects covering violence against women and girls. Hosted by the Vulnerability and Policing Futures Research Centre at Cloth Hall Court, the event examines what can be done to help police and other stakeholders tackle challenges including stalking, creating safer public places, and policing race and gender. 

Exhibition | BA Fine Art Degree Show 2023 
10am to 6pm, 8-18 June 

Showcasing the work of 49 graduating fine art students, Can you let us in? is an exhibition encompassing painting, photography, sculpture, sound and moving installations, using materials that range from traditional media to kinetic ice sculpture. Can you let us in? is a call out to the broader art world to bridge the gap to professional practise. Colleagues are invited to a private view in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies from 6-9pm on 7 June. Email fincomms@leeds.ac.uk to book a place. 

Last chance | Fair Trade International Symposium 2023   
19-21 June   

Registration closes on 9 June for the Fair Trade International Symposium 2023. Featuring workshops and panel events, there will also be the opportunity to hear from major Fair-Trade organisations, local campaigners and people working on connected themes of education for sustainable development and climate justice.
