Register for a range of free activities to boost your sleep quality and wellbeing.
World Sleep Day is an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role sleep plays in maintaining our physical and mental health.
Taking place on 17 March this year, we’re marking the day with an exciting programme of in-person and online activities to promote the importance of sleep, explore the difficulties many of us may experience when this is disrupted, and share some top tips and techniques to drift off into dreamland.
Patrick Craig, Head of Health and Wellbeing at Leeds, said: “When we think about improving our wellbeing, we often overlook sleep and just how important it is for our overall mental and physical health.
“We’re encouraging people to think about sleep in the same ways they do about other healthy behaviours, such as diet, exercise and social connections.
"We want to make our programme of activities accessible to as many staff and students as possible, so we’ve put together a flexible package of online and in-person sessions. People can join us either for the full day, an hour or just 30 minutes.”
Whether you’re experiencing particular issues or would simply like to learn new ways to improve your sleep quality and habits, all staff and students are welcome to attend as many sessions as they like. Sign up for World Sleep Day events via Eventbrite.
Patrick added: “We have plenty more events on offer throughout the year, including step challenges, menopause cafes and our annual Window on Wellbeing Week (26-30 June), culminating with the return of the Staff Festival. The aim of all these activities is to provide colleagues with a chance to explore the support and wellbeing opportunities available at Leeds, connect with colleagues and unwind.”
