Dear colleagues,

The start of the academic year is always such an exciting time. And after a challenging couple of years, it’s even more exciting to see our campus come alive this autumn.

It's come alive because of you – our incredible University community. I wanted to take a moment to thank and celebrate every one of you who is working so hard to make our new year-round approach to welcome possible, from those in front line services to those behind the scenes. We’ve seen school events, roving student ambassadors, campus tours, coordinated communications and much more. This great collaboration right across our institution makes Leeds such a wonderful place to be and gives our students a really engaging experience.

And this buzz on campus continues because so many staff and students are showcasing their hidden talents as part of Campus Live, our community effort to curate campus to bring people together.

“All the world’s a stage,” Shakespeare wrote, and certainly all the University campus is just that for the next few months. We invited staff, schools, students and alumni to help us develop a vibrant programme of events, shining a light on our talented University community. The performers have delivered so far, and it’s just got going.

I was fortunate enough to see the magnificent sand sculpture on Saturday at our Open Day and witness the fantastic reaction to it from our staff, students, parents and prospective students, who were all captured by its creativity.

This week’s programme includes violinists, vocal performers, pop-up studios and fire performers. Come check in out. Meet a classmate or colleague. Or meet someone new. We look forward to seeing you.

Subscribe to our Campus Live mailing list and we’ll update you each week with the latest programme information and news so you don’t miss out on any of the fun. Please get involved on your social channels using #LeedsCampusLive.

Welcome (back) to campus. Please enjoy being together and being part of such a vibrant community. Most importantly, thank you again to the staff and students who have made our welcome to campus wonderful.

Best wishes,
