Heat-related health alerts

A message from Interim Chief Operating Officer sent to all staff on 18 July 2022.

Dear colleague,

Heat-related health alerts remain in place today and tomorrow for parts of England, including here in Leeds.

The safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and guests is our priority. We are aware that public transport may be disrupted in our region.

Campus remains open this week and graduation and other events will take place as scheduled, but we are taking additional steps to keep all staff and visitors safe. The Great Hall and other areas are air conditioned, extra water coolers have been provided and first aiders will be on hand.

All colleagues are recommended to read the official Met Office guidance on keeping safe in hot temperatures.

May I also remind line managers of the University’s adverse weather policy, and our general approach to ways of working

Please continue to follow this guidance and stay safe.

Best wishes,

Dennis Hopper
Interim Chief Operating Officer
