Update on University systems

Overnight on Monday 14 March, we detected a cyber-security incident and we acted swiftly to protect University systems and information.

On Tuesday 15 March, we temporarily shut down a number of services so that they could be updated. These systems were only shut down to enable them to be updated – no systems were compromised or shut down by third parties. We’re prioritising work on these systems with the service owners and are working to bring them back as quickly as possible. We will update our major incident services page daily with the latest news.

As an additional security measure, we also asked all staff and students to change their passwords. We’re now looking at resetting passwords for project and service accounts.

We appreciate the inconvenience this has caused, but it’s essential to ensuring University systems and information remain secure. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and support while we’re dealing with this incident.
