Emeritus Professor James (Jim) Donnelly

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 5 February 2022, of Emeritus Professor James (Jim) Donnelly, former Professor of Science Education in the School of Education.

Jim joined the Assessment of Performance Unit as a research fellow in 1983, a programme based in the Centre for Studies in Science and Mathematics Education. He became senior research fellow in 1989 and, in the same year, joined the permanent staff of the School of Education as Lecturer in Science Education. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1994, Reader in 2002, and appointed Professor of Science Education in 2003. Jim retired in 2010, at which time the title and status of Emeritus Professor was bestowed upon him.

The funeral service will be held at 11.10am on Monday 21 February at Dewsbury Crematorium, Heckmondwike Road, Dewsbury, WF13 3PL, on which day the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast in his memory.
