The annual Leeds Partnership Awards will once again celebrate the achievements of staff and students who truly put into practice the Leeds Partnership – an agreement setting out our shared commitment to work together to support all aspects of our University community.

It only takes a few minutes to fill out the form, and you can nominate yourself, a colleague or a student for any of the 13 category awards up for grabs.

Winners will be announced during a special awards ceremony on Monday 9 May, which it’s hoped will be an in-person event this year.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Student Education, Professor Jeff Grabill, said: “The Partnership Awards are an excellent opportunity to celebrate the values at the heart of our University strategy, particularly working inclusively and collaboratively, and supporting each other across our community.

“These awards are open to all, staff and students, and are a fantastic way to recognise everyone’s enormous achievements and effort to provide world-class education and innovative research during the challenging conditions presented by the ongoing pandemic.”

Positive impact

By being nominated for one of these prestigious awards, staff and students are acknowledged for their successes outside of traditional markers, such as grades or performance reviews, adding to their sense of wellbeing and belonging at Leeds. It might also help boost their career prospects in the process.

In the spirit of reflection, improvement and mutual respect at Leeds, nominating someone for a Partnership Award is the perfect way to recognise those who’ve gone above and beyond in every area of University life – paying forward the positive impact they’ve already made, and creating the foundations for further inspiring work across our community.

Leeds University Union’s (LUU) Union Affairs and Communications Officer, Aysha Burton, said: “This is a chance to celebrate our wonderful community, and the collaborations between LUU and the University.

“These awards are for everyone, students and staff, so please nominate a colleague, student or postgraduate researcher who’s helped you love your time at Leeds, so we can all celebrate their inspiring work.”

Inclusive

Historically, the Partnership Awards have always looked to celebrate the achievements of our staff and students, but in 2022 we’ve realigned them to be even more inclusive of all those in our community who contribute to making sure our students love their time at Leeds.

Categories range from those highlighting commitment to equality and inclusion, wellbeing and innovation to working with a global focus.

There are also dedicated awards to celebrate inspirational teachers, supervisors and mentors, as well as outstanding students, academic personal tutors, postgraduate researchers and student academic reps, among others.

Full details about each of the categories and how to make a nomination can be found on the LUU website.

Nominations close at midnight on Sunday 20 February, and the shortlist will be announced on Thursday 24 March.

Please contact Clare Mawson or the Academic Representation Team if you have any questions about the Partnership Awards.
