Video message from the Vice-Chancellor | Tackling issues and sticking together

Email sent to all staff 1 November 2021

Dear colleagues,

This morning we bring you updates about some of the key issues at Leeds right now.

Fairer Future for All events

There has been a lot of interest in the upcoming Fairer Future for All events on Wednesday 3 November and Thursday 11 November. The events are an opportunity to learn more about our ambitions to create a fairer future for all and the pledges we are making to you.

In response to requests to hold an event outside of regular hours, an additional event at 5.15pm on Tuesday 9 November is now available to book.

USS Pension consultation and events

If you are an active member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), or eligible to be one, you will have recently received a notice of statutory consultation by employers. The consultation is open from today (Monday 1 November), until Monday 17 January 2022. To support you through this process, impartial USS consultation information sessions during November and December are available to book.

The proposed changes to the USS pension is one of the issues at the heart of UCU’s current ballot for industrial action. Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simone Buitendijk has recorded a message about this and how we’re tackling some of the issues at Leeds. Watch the video

Defining our values

Later today, we’ll be launching phase two of The Big Leeds Conversation to all staff, students and postgraduate researchers. We want our whole community to review the draft values and behaviors that have been developed from phase one of the conversation. Look out for further communications this afternoon.

Best wishes,

Internal Communications
