Dr Philip Rhodes

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on Tuesday 24 August 2021, of Dr Philip Rhodes, former senior lecturer in the School of Physics and Astronomy.

Philip gained his PhD at Leeds in 1949 and was appointed as a research assistant in Physics in the autumn of the same year. He was subsequently appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in 1951, being promoted to Lecturer a year later and Senior Lecturer in 1964.

Philip retired in 1990 after 41 years’ service. 

The funeral service will be held at 9.15am on Monday 6 September at the Lawnswood Crematorium, on which day the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast in his memory.
