Jack Windsor Lewis

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the recent death of Jack Windsor Lewis, former Lecturer in the Department of Phonetics.

Jack came to the University in 1970 after several years teaching overseas. 

He was an expert in English pronunciation and, in 1972, his best-known work, A Concise Pronouncing Dictionary of British and American English, was published. 

He retired from the University in 1989 after nineteen years’ service.
