Dr Owen Hartley
Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on Tuesday 1 June 2021, of Dr Owen Hartley, formerly of the School of History.
Owen came to the University in 1968 as Lecturer in Politics within the Department of Social Sciences and then the Department of Politics. He was a member of staff in the Institute for International Studies from 1994, transferring to the School of History in 1999. He retired in 2009 after 41 years’ service to the University.
The funeral service will be held at on Wednesday 23 June at St Andrew’s URC, Roundhay, on which day the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast in his memory.
