Women of Achievement Awards September 2018

The awards aim to acknowledge and celebrate women who share a common commitment to excellence and have performed outstandingly in their fields, whether this be in research, student education or student experience, scholarship, international strategies, leadership of key University initiatives, or supporting administrative and technical activities.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simone Buitendijk, will provide a welcome and introduction to the event, which will be co-hosted by Professor Louise Bryant, University Academic Lead for Gender Equality, and Gillian Neild, Co-Chair of the Women at Leeds Network.

Running from 1-3pm on Thursday 11 March, the special ceremony comes just three days after this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations.

Professor Buitendijk said: “The Women of Achievement Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the important work undertaken by women across the University.

“Over the past 12 months, women in Leeds have shown incredible resilience and dedication to their profession in difficult circumstances, and I’m proud to lead an organisation filled with so many inspiring women.”

The outstanding achievements of 15 colleagues were recognised in the 2018 Women of Achievement Awards, when the ceremony was last held.

Nominations for the sixth instalment of the awards were once again gathered from across the institution, from a range of academic and professional colleagues.

And you can be there to find out who this year’s 28 celebrants are. Register to attend the ceremony via Eventbrite.
