John Cran

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 17 January 2021, of John Ernest Cran, following a long illness.

John worked as an Engineering technician within the School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering between 2011 and 2016, and his manufacturing skills contributed greatly to a countless number of PhDs.

Many will remember John with great fondness for his strong sense of humour, joy of life and as a down-to-earth and proud Yorkshireman. He told us he was the “best engineer” that we could employ at interview, and he certainly was one of the best.

The funeral service has been held, and his ashes will be scattered on his beloved Elland Road pitch.
