“Take time to rest and use the winter break for much needed relaxation.”

This message was sent via email to all colleagues on Wednesday 16 December 2020.

Professor Simone Buitendijk, the thirteenth Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds.

Dear colleague,

In this last week of the year, Vice-Chancellor Simone Buitendijk shares a festive video message and her latest blog.

“I know you’ve all been working extremely hard to keep the University going, and I want to thank you for that, but I want to make sure that you actually take care of yourself over the winter break.”

Vice-Chancellor Simone Buitendijk shares a festive video message for colleagues and the entire University community (closed captions available).

“Like everyone else, I am longing for a better 2021. If we want a better future we will need to be deliberate and have a plan. If we use what we have learnt in this crisis year and enable compassion to guide us, we should be able to create widespread and meaningful global change.”

Reminder of University closed days

The University Christmas 2020 closure period is extended in recognition of an exceptional and challenging year. The University will be closed to normal business activity from Monday 21 December and resume on Monday 4 January 2021. If you are part time or work in shifts, this will be applied pro rata and you will see any adjustment to your annual leave quota appear on your HR Self Service record in January.
