Dame Ingrid Roscoe

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 28 June 2020, of Dame Ingrid Roscoe.

She was a Lecturer in British Sculpture (mainly c17th and c18th) in the Department of Fine Art during the 1990s. She was a graduate of the University (BA (1985) and PhD (1990) in Fine Art and Cultural Studies), and she was an honorary graduate of the University (LLD, 2010). 

In 2004, she was appointed as the North of England’s first female Lord Lieutenant, a position she held until she was succeeded in 2018 by Mr Ed Anderson. 

In 2017 she was made Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the Queens’ Birthday Honours list.
