University Secretary, Roger Gair, has written to all colleagues and postgraduate researchers today (23 June) in advance of the Government's update this afternoon.

Dear colleagues,

I write to you ahead of the Government's coronavirus update later today (23 June), where it is expected that we will hear further announcements on the easing of the current lockdown arrangements.

Ahead of the update I want to reiterate that there will be no immediate change and your current working arrangements should remain in place until further notice.

We will be working hard to ensure any key national announcements and adjustments to lockdown measures are carefully reviewed and that any resultant changes at the University are shared with you before coming into effect.

The health and wellbeing of our staff, PGRs and students is our priority and where we can implement any changes it will be carefully planned and only done where it is appropriate and safe to do so.

However this will take time so please continue to abide by your current working practices until otherwise notified by the University or your line manager or supervisor.

I know that many of you may be feeling anxious about what lies ahead, so please continue to talk to your line manager and remember that colleagues in the Occupational Health and University Counselling Services, or the Student Counselling Service (if you are a PGR) are available to help you, and you do not need a formal referral to speak to them.

We will provide a further update once when we have more information.

With best wishes,

Roger Gair
