World Unite Festival 2020

The annual celebration of our global community runs from Monday 9 March until Sunday 15 March

Immerse yourself in activities dedicated to celebrating the diversity of campus

The World Unite Festival takes place on campus this week to celebrate the University’s diverse and welcoming community. The festival is an annual partnership between us and Leeds University Union who host the events. 

Headline events were announced last month and range from global cooking demonstrations to a talk from author Tansy Hoskins on the global impact of clothing.

The full programme launched on Monday 9 March and features over 40 events.

Highlights of the programme include:

Do What Moves You

Tuesday 10 March, 12pm – 3pm

Come along to Leeds University Union’s Sky Studio and try out a new activity. Options range from salsa dancing or tai chi, to kung fu or ballet.

The event is free and offers a great chance to try out a new activity and meet new people.

Culture Night

Tuesday 10 March, 6pm – 8pm

High on Life Society are hosting a Culture Night where attendees are encouraged to bring something that represents their home to discuss with others.

Food Tour of Leeds

Thursday 12 March, 5pm – 8.30pm

A chance to eat your way around Leeds’ international food scene, with stalls offering up bao buns, burgers, falafel, dumplings and more.

Calligraphy Workshops

Friday 13 March, 4pm – 6.30pm

Unwind and learn more about the ancient art of Chinese calligraphy. Get creative with your own text and designs, and take your artworks home.

Trip to Cambridge

Saturday 14 March, 7.30am – 8pm

Explore the famous university city’s historic market places and enjoy a punting tour on the river.

World Unite offers over 40 events across campus this year, so it’s a great chance to get involved and try something new.
