UCEA update on pay-related talks with UCU

UCEA and UCU met last week and held discussions on the dispute on pay and working conditions.

A UCEA spokesperson said:

“Further good progress was made on the new positive proposals addressing the important issues around employment in universities, focusing on casual employment, workload / mental health and gender pay gap / ethnicity pay. No movement was made on pay.

“UCEA made clear to UCU that we are willing to consult employers again, in conjunction with UUK, on any reasonable proposal from UCU that would resolve all parts of the disputes: USS pensions, pay and working conditions.”

“UCEA has consulted all of its members regularly and presents positive working conditions proposals. UCU is urged to consult all of its members and present these to them as an alternative to further industrial action.”
