Chris Batty
Colleagues will be sorry to hear of the death of Chris Batty, former Facilities Assistant in the Library.
Chris worked for the Library from 2001 to 2015, and was based in the Edward Boyle.
Chris was also an active member of Unison, taking on the role of Health and Safety representative, in which capacity he contributed to better and safer working practices in the Library and the wider University, and provided support and advice to colleagues.
He relocated to his beloved Whitby on retirement but kept in touch with former colleagues.
The funeral will take place at 2.20pm on Thursday 6 February at Lawnswood Crematorium and, as a mark of respect, the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast that afternoon.
The family has kindly requested that any donations made in Chris’ memory should be sent directly to the PDSA charity.
