Dr Peter Beeley

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 8 September, of Dr Peter Beeley, former Senior Lecturer in the Department of Metallurgy.

When Peter was appointed as Lecturer in 1958, he came with considerable industrial experience of foundry metallurgy and the production of castings, together with a fund of common sense, which was the hallmark of his academic career.

He was appointed Senior Lecturer in 1964 and retired in 1988, at which time the title and status of Life Fellow of the University was conferred upon him.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday 26 September at Holy Trinity Church, Green Lane, Cookridge, LS16 7LW. This will be followed by cremation at Lawnswood Crematorium, Otley Road, Adel, LS16 8AA, with a wake at Weetwood Hall Hotel from 1.30pm.

The flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast on the day of the funeral in Peter’s memory.
