Alastair Lumsden

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 22 July, of Alastair Lumsden, formerly Senior Lecturer of the Department of Earth Sciences.

Alastair joined the University in 1975, making a distinctive and substantive contribution to scholarship, and was a leading engineering geologist of his generation.

He was highly dedicated to supporting the Masters students on the Engineering Geology course, which he developed and ran, working to ensure the best possible outcomes for students after graduation.

Alastair retired in 2000 after 25 years’ service to the University.
