Saddle up for Cycle September

Pedal power will come to the fore this month with the launch of a bespoke annual cycling competition!

Help us pedal our way to victory by signing up for Cycle September 2019

Saddle-up for Cycle September. September 2019

Running until Monday 30 September, and coinciding with the UCI Road World Championships coming to Yorkshire this month, Cycle September is a nationwide initiative hosted by Love to Ride and City Connect.

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider, Cycle September offers something for everyone. It’s a fun, free competition where local and national organisations compete to see which workplace and departments can get the most staff on their bikes.

There are loads of great prizes up for grabs by getting in the saddle, or by encouraging friends and colleagues to do the same. The more often you ride or encourage someone else to, the more points you claim for your team and the more opportunities you have to win!

Last year’s Cycle September saw 161 colleagues at Leeds across 32 departments, Schools and Faculties logging their rides during the month, collectively pedalling the equivalent distance of a return flight from London to Sydney (20,000 miles)!

We’re keen to build on this success in 2019 and we'd like to invite you to be part of it. The University is currently doing really well on the leader-boards and we would love to go for Gold this year after narrowly missing out on the top spot in our category in 2018.

Don’t worry if you haven't cycled for years. You only have to ride a bike for ten minutes or more for your participation to count towards the University’s team score. And you can ride anywhere, anytime during the challenge.

Head to The Bike Hub to find out more about the options available to hire a bicycle.

If you ride already, simply link up your current activity tracker to log your rides automatically.

It just takes two minutes to register, so please sign up to the University team and help us pedal our way to victory!
