Open meetings are being held to update colleagues about preparations for REF 2021.

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. Taking place roughly every six or seven years, the results are used to provide information about the quality of a university's research for external benchmarking and the allocation of research funding.

For the REF 2021 submission, all institutions are required to submit a Code of Practice to the funding bodies’ Equality and Diversity Advisory Panel (EDAP) for approval.

The Code covers important aspects of submission preparation, such as identifying staff whose work is eligible for inclusion, selecting outputs and taking account of individual staff circumstances in a fair and transparent manner.

The REF Steering Group at Leeds is hosting further meetings to update colleagues on how we are applying the principles and processes laid out in the Code of Practice to determine eligibility of staff for inclusion in the REF.

The meetings will be chaired by Professor Lisa Roberts, Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Innovation, or another member of the REF Steering Group.

They are scheduled for Tuesday 24 September (9-11am) and Tuesday 1 October (11am to 1pm).

Register to attend via Eventbrite.

We welcome queries and comments via email in advance of the meetings.
