Dr Gerry Leaf

Colleagues will be sorry learn of the recent death of Dr Gerry Leaf, former Reader in the Department of Textile Industries, who had recently celebrated his 90th birthday.

He was appointed to the post of Lecturer in Textile Engineering in 1965, promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1970 and to Reader in Textile Engineering in 1986. He held this post until his retirement in 1993.

He was awarded a Doctor of Science (DSc) in 1984 and, a year later, the Warner medal from the Textile Institute.

The funeral will be held at 1pm on Friday 9 August at Lawnswood Crematorium, Otley Road, Leeds, LS16 8AA. The family has requested no flowers, but donations can be made to St Gemma’s Hospice or to Cancer Research.

The flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast on the day of the funeral in Gerry’s memory.
