Take part in National Inclusion Week 2019

The Equality Policy Unit is searching for colleagues who have ideas for events to help celebrate National Inclusion Week 2019 (23-29 September).

We are taking part in National Inclusion Week for the third year

The annual campaign is run by Inclusive Employers to raise awareness of the importance of inclusion in the workplace and highlight the business benefits to having a diverse and included workforce. This year's theme is ‘Everyday Inclusion – Celebrate and Inspire’.

Leeds is joining in with celebrations taking place across the country for the third year.

A packed programme of events was staged on campus last year, including the opening of our sensory garden outside Charles Morris Hall.

Our involvement with National Inclusion Week aims to celebrate our distinctively international and diverse staff and student community and raise awareness of our work and the wide range of initiatives we have on offer. This is in support of our vision that Leeds is ‘a beacon of excellence for Equality and Inclusion in the higher education sector’.

Sabiha Patel, Head of Equality and Inclusion, said: “We’re delighted to be participating in National Inclusion Week again and we value your contribution and support in making it a success.

“This is a great opportunity for colleagues and students to find out more about our inclusivity work and hear about the breadth of work taking place. It’s also a chance to reflect on your own practice or work and consider how equality and inclusion can be further enhanced through our everyday efforts.”

Please email the Equality Policy Unit with your ideas by Friday 9 August or if you would like more information about National Inclusion Week. Details of the programme will be circulated later.
