Celebrating sexual and gender diversity

The Equality Policy Unit is seeking colleagues interested in presenting at an event celebrating sexual and gender diversity.

Rainbow Parkinson to celebrate LGBT month February 2018

Staff from the School of Medicine have planned a lunchtime event on Friday 17 May to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT). This is designed to raise awareness and acknowledge that while progress has been made, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people still face prejudice and discrimination across the world today.

The event will feature talks on personal Trans experience, heteronormativity and homophobia through words, images and the body. Speaking at the event will be West Yorkshire Queer Stories, our LGBTQ+ staff network and the Equality Policy Unit (EPU).

The EPU is exploring the potential of expanding the event. If you are interested in presenting on the day, please send a brief outline of your proposed talk to Becky Brenton by 9am on Tuesday 30 April.

Full details of the event will be communicated shortly.
