Nexus is hosting our University Showcase, as part of Leeds Digital Festival. April 2019

Bookings are now open for free workshops at the University Showcase on Wednesday 1 May, being held as part of Leeds Digital Festival (LDF). These will run alongside an exhibition in Nexus from noon to 5.30pm.

The Showcase will close with a panel discussion from 5-6.30pm on '21st Century digital skills for a diverse workforce'. Chaired by the Dean for Digital Education, Professor Neil Morris, the panel will debate the challenges of securing a diverse range of staff with appropriate values, attributes, skills and abilities.

Leeds, through the digital education platform FutureLearn, is helping the Institute of Coding with a major digital skills drive.

See the Showcase web page for a full list of workshops and details of how to book your place at these events and the panel discussion.

Nexus – our new innovation centre – is also hosting other events as part of this year’s LDF, including sessions on FinTech and Women in Leeds Digital. See the Nexus website for further information and booking details.

Professor Morris said: “Digital education is opening up new, flexible ways for people to study – helping people study alongside work. This includes helping develop the digital skills needed by employers in the 21st Century.

“Leeds is building a reputation for its work in this area and the Festival is a good opportunity to share what we are doing and also invite debate about how we ensure education can equip employees to thrive in a changing world.”

LDF runs from Tuesday 23 April to Friday 3 May. See the Festival website for the full programme.
