Appeal to encourage student feedback

Colleagues are asked to encourage all eligible students to take part in two surveys to feedback on their experience of their course at Leeds.

The Undergraduate Programme Survey 2019 has now launched and will remain open for eligible students until mid-May.

The questionnaire is available online and it should only take five minutes to complete. Students will have the choice between 100 free printer credits or a £1 donation to charity as a thank you for their participation.

All eligible students have been emailed an invitation to take part in the survey. It can also be completed on paper and the support of staff to allow it to be completed in lectures has really helped to boost response rates in the past.

The survey is managed by the Market Research and Insight team. All eligible undergraduate students (usually non-finalists) are encouraged to take part, as the survey helps us to better understand our students’ views on their academic experience.

Responses to student surveys are very important to the University. Individual Schools and Faculties have compiled action plans in response to last year’s student feedback, including the NSS and Programme Surveys. The action plans are available to view on the For Student website.

The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) 2019 has also been launched and PGRs are invited to take part.

The PRES is the only national survey of postgraduate research students’ experience of their programme and at least 100 institutions across the UK will be participating this year. The results give us rich information on our students’ experience (including comparisons both internally and against the sector), which allows us to make changes to better meet student needs in the future.

All eligible students have been sent an e-mail with a link to the survey, or alternatively the survey can also be accessed through the Portal. It takes about 15 minutes to complete and, as a thank you for their participation, students can enter a draw to win one of five £50 cash prizes (terms and conditions apply).

Please contact Helen Theakston for further information about either of the surveys.
