Mr Frank Mobbs

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 7 February 2019, of Frank Mobbs, former Reader in the School of Mechanical Engineering.

An alumnus of the University, Frank obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering during World War II, when the country was urgently training additional engineers for the war effort. After also studying at Imperial College and working at the Royal Aircraft Establishment in Farnborough immediately after the war, Frank joined the lecturing staff at the University of Liverpool, but soon moved to Leeds. He arrived in 1952 as a Lecturer progressing to Senior Lecturer in 1968 and Reader in 1975. He retired in 1989, but subsequently returned part-time for several years to continue to lecture in fluid mechanics.

The funeral service will be held at 9.40am on Friday 22 February at Stonefall Crematorium, Wetherby Road, Harrogate, HG3 1DE, on which day the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast.
