From taking up his first academic post at Bretton Hall College in 1992, Calvin was deeply interested in the role of the cultural industries as part of urban regeneration in the north of England.  He became a member of University staff in 2001 and was promoted to Professor in November 2008.  Calvin was Pro-Dean for Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Performance, Visual Arts and Cultures from 2014 until his early retirement in 2017, when the title and status of Emeritus Professor was conferred upon him.

Calvin’s funeral will be held on Wednesday 20 February at 1.40pm at Lawnswood Crematorium, followed by the interment at Tarn Moor Memorial Woodland near Skipton. There will be a reception from 5pm at Leeds Urban Bike Park, LS10 3TN.  Everyone is welcome to attend any part of the day.  Family flowers only, please.  Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to St Gemma’s Hospice.
