Mrs Janet Wood

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 19 January 2019, of Mrs Janet Wood, former secretary in the Centre for International Business.

Professor Peter Buckley writes:

“Janet Wood was my secretary/PA for over 21 years until her untimely and sudden death in January 2019. She was unfailingly helpful, supportive, efficient and friendly to all who came into contact with her. The messages of loss that I have received from all over the world are testimony to the care that she took with people, her capability and sense of humour. Janet had worked in LUBS for a number of years before joining me as the secretary of the Centre for International Business, University of Leeds (CIBUL) and the success of this research and later teaching unit is in no small part attributable to the outstanding support given by Janet. Janet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and the loss to her family is incalculable. She will always be remembered as a capable, friendly, cheerful and helpful member of staff of the University who inducted many staff members into the ways and quirks of this University. Rest in Peace, Janet, you are sorely missed.”

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday 8 February at Saint Mary’s Church, Whitkirk, Selby Road, Leeds LS15 0AA, on which day the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast. Donations in lieu of flowers to be made to Ward 35 of York Hospital.
