Bad weather guidance

If you’ve been affected by bad weather, or your travel plans have been disrupted, follow this advice on what to do.

During this period of bad weather, the University aims to operate a business as usual approach in as many areas as possible to ensure that disruption to services and learning and teaching activity is minimal.

Colleagues should make every effort to attend work, but please use your own judgement on the most sensible course of action after taking into account weather conditions, carer responsibilities, advice from other agencies and health and safety issues.

If you’re unable to get to work please advise your line manager at the earliest and safest opportunity.

Advice for managers

Line managers should ensure that reporting arrangements are clearly communicated to members of their team and to treat any requests for alternative working arrangements based on their own merits.

Guidance on managing staff affected by adverse weather or disruptions to travel, including options for managing absence, are available on the HR website.

Please contact your HR Manager if you have any queries.
