Discover how you can become a school governor

You are invited to take part in two events to discover how the University supports staff who are existing and prospective school governors.

At Leeds, we recognise the value of staff and alumni becoming school governors and the positive impact this has on individuals, children, communities and the University. By finding, nurturing and supporting a committed network of governors, we help to drive systematic change in how schools operate.

As well as helping interested staff and alumni find vacancies, our School Governor Programme offers support and networking opportunities to everyone involved.

And two events have now been planned to provide further information about the initiative.

‘How To Get Involved With School Governance’ is a free webinar, running from 11.30am to 12.30pm on Tuesday December 18.

Find out how you can get involved and what the benefits are to you and the community in a free webinar hosted by Governors for Schools. The national organisation exists to improve educational standards so that children and young people have the chance to realise their full potential.

Register for the webinar.

‘Effective School Governance’ is a free networking event at Hilary Place SR (1.24) between noon and 1pm on Wednesday 19 December.

Led by the Leeds Governor Support Service, this lunchtime session will explore what it takes to become an effective school governor and run a school board. This is also a great opportunity to meet and network with other school governors over a mince pie.

Book your place.

Any staff interested in becoming a school governor, or who are already working with schools, can also register to be involved with our School Governors Network. Members benefit from our programme of networking opportunities and events throughout the year. Register by completing this short questionnaire
