Christmas in Leeds 2018
Help encourage students and postgraduate researchers staying in Leeds during the holidays to celebrate the festive season with the Christmas in Leeds programme.
The scheme provides opportunities to meet others, experience Christmas traditions and find out about help and support at this time of year.
Students enjoyed a variety of events on campus in 2017, including a Christmas meal hosted by Great Food at Leeds, with entertainment from the University’s Staff Choir. They were encouraged to engage with the local community, creating Chinese-themed Christmas decorations at the city’s Rainbow Junk-tion community café in a workshop hosted by the Business Confucius Institute.
Students also explored Otley Chevin, walking through snowy Yorkshire countryside led by the Get Out, Get Active team. About 30 students watched Leeds United v Hull City at Elland Road on a trip led by Global Community student ambassadors and staff volunteers. There were other trips to a pantomime and a Christmas film at Hyde Park Picture House hosted by the Plus Programme, as well as other social events on campus and in the city.
Co-ordinated by the University’s Global Community team, colleagues from across the University and LUU have collaborated again this year to offer a variety of events both on and off campus, including during the University’s closed period. Many events are family friendly, also welcoming students’ partners and children.

Christmas in Leeds printed booklets will be available at various locations across campus from Monday 26 November, containing events listings, information about what to expect during the festive period and signposting to sources of help and support. Download the online version here.
