2018-19 HE pay negotiations – Unite announces ballot result

Unite has announced the result of its recent ballot for industrial action in relation to this year’s final pay offer.

Unite announced that 42% of eligible members voted in the ballot, which asked if they were prepared to take part in industrial action.

The ballot did not achieve the 50% turnout required before industrial action can legally take place. This echoes the outcome of recent ballots held by UCU and UNISON, and so we do not expect any action (strike, or action short of a strike) to be called by any of the University’s recognised unions as a result of this year’s pay offer.

Following advice from UCEA, the University has already implemented the final 2018/19 base pay increase of between 2 and 2.7%
