Buddy-up to welcome international colleagues
Are you interested in becoming a buddy to a new international colleague?
The University wants to enhance the support offered to international colleagues as they arrive in Leeds to take up new positions at the University.
Ensuring that international colleagues are well supported helps to ensure a good staff experience, promotes the reputation of the University both in the UK and overseas and, through the sharing of international experience, knowledge and skills, enhances partnership and collaboration.
Alongside other measures designed to support international colleagues, buddying is identified as a key integration opportunity.
The University will make this available to new colleagues as part of the orientation process. Buddying functions as a supportive mechanism to aid new colleagues assimilate smoothly during their first months here at the University and assist in the transition into a new academic and/or cultural environment.
The main feature of the buddy scheme is its informality and mutuality. Buddies can be of any nationality but we will try and match colleagues firstly by faculty/discipline and then by other common factors.
