REF2021 open meeting

Colleagues are invited to attend an open meeting to discuss the University’s plans for REF2021.

REF (Research Excellence Framework) is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions – a process undertaken every seven years. Leeds was ranked 10th in the UK for research power in REF2014.

The open meeting will be chaired by Professor Lisa Roberts, Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Innovation.

There will be two (duplicate) sessions on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 December covering plans for the Code of Practice. The Code will include the University approach to:

  • the fair and transparent identification of staff with significant responsibility for research
  • determining who is an independent researcher
  • the selection of outputs; and
  • the declaration of individual staff circumstances.

Bookings to attend one of the meeting can be made via Eventbrite.

Further information on requirements for the Code of Practice can be found on the REF website. The REF2021 In Depth page on the For Staff website also features the latest updates.

If you have comments on any aspect of the University’s REF preparations, please email the Research and Innovation Service quoting your Unit of Assessment in the subject line, if appropriate.
