EU Settlement Scheme Pilot: Information event, guidance, sample scenarios and FAQs
The pilot will be opening to EU nationals working in Higher Education on 15 November. To support EU colleagues we’re hosting an information event and have developed a set of resources.
The UK government is committed to protecting the rights of EU nationals and their family members currently living in the UK, after we leave the EU on 29 March 2019. This includes the right to live here, work here and access public services such as healthcare and benefits.
If you’re an EU national, or a family member of an EU national and your residence in the UK is based on that relationship, you’ll need to apply for UK immigration status under the EU Settlement Scheme. Further detail on the Settlement Scheme can be found on GOV.UK.
The Home Office is testing the EU Settlement Scheme through a series of pilots ahead of the public launch. The second phase of the pilot runs from 15 November until 21 December 2018 and covers employees in higher education and health and social care sectors.
To support HE staff through the pilot process, we’re hosting an information event on the 19 Nov. We have also developed a set of FAQs, some sample scenarios and are sharing the latest guidance from the Home Office. Please scroll down to access these resources and book your place on our information event.
To apply for the pilot, you’ll need to pre-register your details with the Home Office. We’ll be updating you on how you can do that once the instructions for pre-registration have been released by the Home Office. We expect to be able to email all colleagues with that information before the 15 November.

specialist at Freeths Solicitors, will be discussing the pilot, the application
process and the EU settlement scheme in general. This event is open to all
staff but places are limited. If you do not have access to the internet, please
let your manager know you’d like to attend. Book your place via EventBrite.
If you’re not able to attend, we’ll be videoing the event and we’ll make the session available online afterwards.
