2018-19 HE pay negotiations – UNISON announces ballot result

UNISON has announced the result of its recent ballot for industrial action in relation to this year’s final pay offer.

UNISON announced that 31% of eligible members voted in the ballot, which asked if they were prepared to take part in industrial action.

As the ballot did not achieve the 50% turnout required before industrial action can legally take place, we do not expect any action (strike, or action short of a strike) to be called by UNISON.

UCU also recently announced that its ballot did not achieve a 50% turnout at the University of Leeds.  Our remaining union, Unite, is still engaged in the ballot process and results will be shared as soon as they are available.

Following advice from UCEA, the University has already implemented the final 2018/19 base pay increase of between 2 and 2.7%
