Final call to take part in Public Engagement events

The deadline is rapidly approaching to take part in two of the University’s main Public Engagement (PE) events.

Monday 15 October is the closing date for applications to take part in Be Curious 2019 and entries for the University’s Public Engagement with Research Awards 2018.

Research groups and individuals from all disciplines are invited to participate in Brave New World – the theme for Be Curious 2019. The fourth instalment of this hugely popular event, it represents the ideal opportunity for academics to showcase their world-leading research to the wider public.

More than a thousand visitors have attended Be Curious in previous years, and researchers have until 5pm on Monday 15 October to sign up for next year’s celebrations on 30 March.

Complete the online form to register an interest in taking part. These will be assessed by a panel of academics from across the University. Successful applicants will be informed by the week commencing Monday 5 November 2018, when further information about the proposed activity will be collected.

See the Be Curious webpage for more details about the event or email the PE team for further information.

The University’s Public Engagement with Research Awards 2018 are designed to recognise people for excellent PE or patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE), and to raise awareness of innovative high-quality practice.

There are three awards, one for each stage of the research cycle – development, ‘doing’ and dissemination. The deadline for entries is Monday 15 October 2018 and the awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 15 November.

Each award comes with a £400 prize.

See the PE webpage to read the guidance notes and to download the application form.
