More Than A Mushroom
Outside Edward Boyle Library
Continuous activity, 6pm – 10pm

Join Grow Wild, the national outreach initiative of Kew Gardens, on a Fungi Quest to discover the hidden depths of the fungi kingdom. Let our giant fungus help you communicate with others around you, and join the most extensive network ever imagined – the Wood Wide Web!

The Remote Viewer: Windows on a Lost City
Treasures of the Brotherton, Parkinson Building
Continuous activity, 6pm – 10pm

The Remote Viewer presents contrasting views of Leeds using images from Godfrey Bingley’s photographic archive. Using rephotography (the act of repeat photography of the same site, with a time lag between the two images), the city is haunted by changes we cannot fathom and the scale of urban transformation. The work by artist Michael C Coldwell explores photographs as representations of loss, despite our saturation in pictures and traces of the past.

Observe
Pyramid Theatre, Leeds University Union
Continuous activity, 6pm – 10pm

By creating a dynamic Pyramid of LED light, artists Chris Burgess and Richard Wells will target the audience perspective towards a glass pyramid and, beyond this, the autumn night sky. In our targeted observatory, you will depart from city life and be able to take a moment to contemplate our relatively small position in an ever increasing galaxy.

Discover Live Coding: Innovation in Music
Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall, School of Music
Continuous activity, 6pm – 10pm

The Clothworkers Bar and Centenary Concert Hall are transformed for one special evening of electrifying, body-shaking sounds and incredible, hypnotic visuals. Learn about live‐coding from researchers in Music, then take the controls and see your visuals projected on the big screen.

Share your creation online – live – via the School’s streaming technology. Free live‐coding themed non‐alcoholic cocktails and a club atmosphere will work all of your senses on this illuminating journey through sound, light and technology.

Talking Moving Heads
stage@leeds
Performances at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm

‘Talking Moving Heads’ is an original short play brought to you by two of our Technicians – Hannah Baxter-Gale and Matt Harrup. Looking at the life of the theatre after-dark, this heart-warming narrative reveals the completely made up story of what really happens when the curtain falls. Love, loss and talking lights all feature in this debut performance.

Visit the Light Night Leeds 2018 website for more information of the wider events taking place across the city on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October.
