Half-price tickets for Brexit conference
Half-price tickets are available to attend a University-based conference about challenges faced in the north by Brexit.
Leeds Vice-Chancellor, Sir Alan Langlands, will be part of a panel discussing issues surrounding the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union (EU) at the event on Thursday 20 September.
The inaugural Global Policy North network conference features a new consortium of scholars and practitioners from various disciplines and universities in the north of England, working on a range of global governance and policy issues.
Staged at Clothworkers Centenary Hall on campus and organised by Fuse, The Centre for Transitional Research in Public Health, the event brings together politicians, academics and business leaders to discuss the regional challenges of the UK's departure from the EU.
Keynote addresses will be given by the Rt. Hon. Hilary Benn MP, Member of Parliament for Leeds Central and Chairman of the Exiting the European Union Select Committee, and Lord Jim O'Neill, former Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and a member of the House of Lords.
The conference will also feature four panel discussions on various aspects of the challenge of Brexit for the north. These are on education, health, investment/industry and infrastructure/energy.
Sir Alan, together with Professor David Held (Master of University College, Durham University), will deliver the welcome address at the conference before Sir Alan joins the education panel.
Professor Garrett Brown, Chair in Political Theory and Global Health Policy at Leeds, will be part of the health panel.
