USS explains cost sharing rule
How the USS cost sharing rule will affect members.
The cost sharing process will mean an increase in contributions for everyone that pays into USS, including members and the University.
Subject to consultation (expected to start in September 2018), in accordance with the scheme rules the increase will be shared between members and employers on a 35:65 basis.
USS proposes to implement increases in phases from 1 April 2019.

This process runs alongside the Joint Expert Panel's review of the 2017 valuation. The JEP is due to report its findings in September 2018.
